Queen - Son and Daughter (At the Beeb) y extra *rare*

Encontré esta versión de casualidad y me impactó, me maravilla apreciar no la idea que genera una canción que creo es medio imposible de lograr, sino el trabajo de como la van armando, progresando en su construcción a medida que ensayan y graban demos:

Hay muchas versiones asi en "Queen at The Bowl", "at the BBC Studios", "Langham Studio", "De Lane Lea Demos", etcétera.

Traduje y agregué algunos datos faltantes en la info del video.

"Son and Daughter" fue escrita por Brian May, fue el lado B del simple "Keep Yourself Alive". La canción fue tocada en el primer concierto bajo el nombre de Queen en 1970. Era un tema habitual en vivo de Queen hasta bien entrado 1975, la canción originalmente albergaba su famoso solo de guitarra, del cual algunos segmentos fueron excluidos en las versiones definitivas que resultó asi bastante mas corta.
La versión del álbum de la canción "Queen" que es el primero de la banda no cuenta con el solo de guitarra. El solo no se registró en sus versiones editadas hasta 1974, para "Brighton Rock" y algunas partes en "Now I'm Here" del tercer long-play "Sheer Heart Attack".
Hasta este momento y en ocasiones después, el solo de guitarra sería tocado en la mitad de "Son and Daughter" durante los conciertos, permitiendo que el resto de la banda descanse y cambie de vestuario.

La tercera sesión de grabación en la BBC vería eventualmente un lanzamiento oficial en 1989, junto con la primera sesión de Queen en la BBC, bajo el título Queen: At The Beeb. Son & Daughter, incluyendo el solo de guitarra, alcanza una duración sobre los siete minutos, finalizando la sesión en el álbum. Debido a que esta versión fue grabada originalmente para un programa de radio, Freddie Mercury se autocensuró cantando al principio: "Buckle down and a-shovel it!" (Agáchate y movélo con la pala!) en lugar de la letra original "shovel shit!" (Paleá mierda!). La segunda versión BBC (inédita) muestra a Mercury que se censura mas aún cantando "Shovel shhhhh..." o sea "Paleá shhhh...." .

A diferencia de otras canciones de período temprano de Queen que se introdujeron de nuevo en el set en vivo de sus giras 1984-86 tales como "Liar", "Keep Yourself Alive", "The Seven Seas of Rhye", "In The Lap of the Gods ... Revisited" en cambio "Son and Daughter" se quedó fuera de los setlist de éxitos de Queen que regresaron a sus shows en vivo. La canción es una clara muestra de su más temprano sonido, influenciada por el blues-rock y el heavy metal.

"Son and Daughter" was written by May and was the B-side for the single "Keep Yourself Alive". The song was played in the very first concert under the name of Queen in 1970. The solo would not be properly recorded until 1974, for "Brighton Rock" from Sheer Heart Attack.
